Lib. H. D. two of his Matys Ships the Harwich and the South Sea Castle we make no doubt of its haveing been Safely delivered to you Since that time. And therefore we shall not repeat any thing of the Contents thereof further then we have now New Occasion. It has not yett been possible for us to go through all the particular Matters that lye before us relating to that Province but nevertheless being willing to write what we Can by this first Opportunity we shall not forgett but onely Deferr the rest till we have provided further This Lre we Intend by his Matys Advice Boat the Swift Captaine Bostock Commander who being directed to Attend att Maryland we Suppose will Answer Your End in what you desire about a Vessell to Cruize upon tht Coast, and together herewithall we now send you a Lre from his Maty Dated the 22th of Aprill Last requireing your punctuall Care in all things relating to the Execution of the Act for the Plantation Trade Unto which we therefore referr you as being of greater weight then anything we are able to Say upon the Subject. Upon Consideration of the Assemblyes Address mentioned in the Close of your Last Letter Desireing that Coll Copleys Estate in Maryland may Answer to his Maty the fourth part of the Twelve pence p hogshead on Tobb: which ought to have been imployed in Stores of Warr but was by him Con verted to his private use. We Cannot Conceive why prose cution has not allready been made thereupon in the Country that whatsoever was found due to the King might have been recovered by ordinary Course of Law. Upon the head of Stores we must also add that we find not amongst the papers now received any Acct or Inventory of the Arms Amunition and Stores remaining in any of his Matys Magazeens in that Province wch being a thing that his Maty has required you Annually to Observe, we Expect that it be Accordingly performed. There is another thing also that we find omitted by you, tho we Acquainted you partic ularly that it was his Matys Express Command, and Accord ingly required you to Observe it, We mean An Exact Acct of all money Given for publicque uses And how the same is and has been from time to time Expended or layd out. This therefore (to Explaine our Selves more particularly) we Expect to be punctually observed at least from the beginning of the year 1696. Upon persuall of the Assemblyes Address relating to the Quota of Men or money to be furnished by Maryland for the defence of New York we should not have been able to have understood there meaning therein if we had not found it more p. 229 plainly Expressed in Some other of your publique papers But
