202 Proceedings of the Council of Maryland, 1696/7-98.
Lib. H. D. Rangers (upon Sight hereof) keep Constantly Ranging betwixt their ffort and the sd ffrontier Plantations untill further Ordr and that they often Call in at the Said Plan tacons and Inform themselves how matters are and that if they meet any Indians comitting any insolencies Violencies or other unlawfull Act that they fforthwith Seize and Appre hend and under Safe and Secure Conduct Send them down to the Port of Annapolis unto his Exncy the Govr to be dealt withall according to Law and that either Capt Oldton or his Lieutent meet his Exncy at Baltemore County Court House the ffirst Tuesday of September next to Receive what further Order or directions may (for his Mats and Countreys Service) be then and there given them and that if any thing should happen in the Interim that they imediately dispatch an Express down to his Exncy to give an Accot thereof.
p. 544 By his Exncy the Governr Augt 21th 1697. Ordered that Wm Stermy of Calvert County Carpinter do (upon Sight hereof) fforecast his business to be here at the Port of Annapolis by the 28th of this Instant August in Order to view the State House Work in Company of Laurence Garey Carpinter and to give their Opinions about the Same what time it will Require to ffinish it &Ca whereof he is no wise to ffaile. Present His EXnCY ffrancis Nicholson Esq Capt Genll &Ca Sr Thomas Laurence Baront Secryr Coll Henry Jowles Coll Nicho Greenberry Produced and Read a letter by his Exncy recd: from George Muschamp Esq Collr of his Mats Customs of Potomock District Dated the 23d instant giving an Accot of the Arrivall of Admirall Nevills Squadron in Virga and of their Success they have had in the West Indies against the ffrench &ca And it being Signifyed at the Board how that one Capt Edward Tarleton having lately brought intelligence from Choptanck how that Mr Wm Sharp of Talbot County being lately Come from Virga did Report the News of the sd Admirall Nevills
