     on Lyquors imported into this Province, the Vestry of each Lib. H. D.

     respective Parish therein have the Benefit of one full Moiety

     of all fforfietures upon Liquors &ca imported and Landed

     contrary to the Tenr of the Act. Ordered therefore that

     they Severally take Care to see the sd Law put in due Execu

     tion by Seizing and Causing to be Seized all unaccustomed

     Lyquors coming within any of their prcincts, for which (upon

     Suspicion they are to make diligent Search according to the

     Laws of England and of this Province and upon Seizure they

     are to make due In formation to his Mats Attorney Gen” of the

     Same, in Ordr for prosecution whereof, they are in no wise to

     faile at their Utmost perill and the Sherriffs are hereby

     Ordered to give Copy of this to the Vestry of each Parish

     within his Bayliwick.

       At a Councill by Speciall Appointmt met and held at the

     Port of Annapolis the 10th day of July Anno 1697.

                     Coll: Henry Jowles

       Notice was by Ordr given to the Sherriff to Sumons what

     members of his Mats honrble Councill lived nigh to this place

     for to meet his Exncy in Councill here this day, who Came and

     sayes that pursuant thereto, he had Sumon'd his Honr Coll:

     Greenberry as well as the Gent prsent, but that his honr lay at

     Some Restraint so that he could not possibly attend.

       Produced a Return of the Commrs of Somerset County

     Court in Answt to an Ordr from this Board, concerning Majr

     Whittington high Sherriff of Somerset County upon a Com

     plaint made against him by Mr George Layfield and Mr

     Thomas Dixon about some misfeasance in his Office &ca and

     for presenting two persons to his Exncy for his Choice whom

     to make Sherriff &Ca which was Read as followes.

    

    

     May it please your Exncy

       In Obedience to an Order of yor Exncy and Councill bearing

     date the 11th day of June Anno: Domini 1697: We the Sub

     scribers have this day to Witt the Second day of July in the

     year aforesd According to yor sd Order have Mett and Con

     sidered the Same, and doe prsent to yor Choice Mr John
