Petuxant District do (upon Sight hereof) deliver up unto Lib. H.1). Peter Jenings Esq the Bearer hereof his Mats part of what prizes have been brought in and Condemned within this his Mats province of Maryland, lodged and Remaining in his hands; the sd Mr Jenings having this day produced a Commis sion from under the hands of the Principall Commrs for Prizes in England and their Seal of Office bearing date the 19th day of November 1696: whereby he is fully Constituted and appointed their Agent here, for looking after and man ageing those matters. His Exncy is pleas'd to say that what part of the two fore mention'd prizes, belongs to him as Vice Admirall, he bestowes the Same upon the Comanders of the Ships that took them for their further Encouragemt Produced by the sd Mr Jenings two Cornissions unto him Granted from under the Seal of the Admiralty in England, the one bearing date the 7th of Decembr 1696. and the other the 23d of the sd Instant Decembr with Interrogatories Annext, Empowering him to put in fforce his other Commission. Ordered that the same be Recorded and all Obedience Given thereto accordingly His Exncy being pleased to tell the sd Mr Jenings that if he could Inform him any thing that might be Serviceable to his Maty about the Execution of those Comissions Some Ordr should be given therein.
At a Councill &ca July the 3d 1697. Geo: Ashman Read a Petition of George Ashman, Job Evans & Job Evans pet abt a & others about Some Rume, Sugar and Molasses Ordr mde by them lately brought from the head of the Bay which they purchased in Coecill County from a person that brought the same from Pensilvania over Land, and had been lately seized by Ordr of the Navll Officer of the port of Annapolis &ca for being bought and sold contrary to his Exncys Proclamation and for not paying the Kings Duties &ca Setting forth tht they finding themselves in an Error did humbly pray leave to make purchase of the sd Goods at the appraised Value or otherwise The sd Peticon was by Ordr Referred to George Plater Esq his Mats Receiver and Attorney Genll to do therein what is legall & proper.
