and is told he may.
Whereupon the Gentlemen departe this house.
Resolved by the house that a certaine opinion of the Kings
Lawyers signed by George Plater W^m Dent and Robert
Gouldsborough Esq. bearing date the 14^th day of October
1697 wherein they have Given Councill to his Ex^cy the Gov-
ernour in these words.

May it please your Excell^cy
We have considered the within returne of the Justices of
Calvert County Court relating to James Crauford and we are
of opinion that it is contempt in the Justices in not obeying
your Ex^cys orders.
We are also of opinion that your Ex^cy may dismiss or sus-
pend any person from practiceing the Law within this pro-
vince upon Just and sufficient cause shewn to your Ex^cy The
process proper ag^t the said Judges is a venire facias unless
your Ex^cy will be pleased to call them before yourselfe and the
hon^ble his Mat^ys privy Councill.
All which we do humbly Submitt to your Ex^cy

Is a very dangerous opinion tending to the depriveing of
people of theire freehold and liberty upon bare suggestion,
without any presentment of their peers and to the Exasperat-
ing his Ex^cy the Gov^r ag^t the Justices of the peace &c of this
province unjustly for protecting people in theire Rights.
Whereupon Resolved the following address be sent to his
Ex^cy the Governor &c and his Maty^s hon^ble Councill:

To his Ex^cy Francis Nicholson Esq^r and his Maty^s Hon^be
Councill.

The humble adress of all the Delegates of his Maty^s Pro-
vince of Maryland now in Assembly sitting.
Whereas it was complained to us that M^r George Plater,
M^r William Dent and M^r Robert Goldsborough had signed a
certaine opinion ab^t Law which your Ex^cy was generously
pleased to lett us have att our humble request, this house
upon full hearing of theire Argum^ts and p^rsidents, have

the depriving and forejudging his Maty^s Subjects of theire
