By the House of Delegates Aprill the 2^d 1698

Answer to Severall Remarks upon the resolves of the
House sent yesterday by M^r Benj'ⁿ Hall and others

As to the Revivall Bill

I^st We have done our Dutyes in preparing a Reviving bill
and if his Ex^cy will not pass it, It lyes not at our doores.
2^d As to M^r Sewall since we are to Disburse the Countryes
money We are the Proper Judges of w^ht is fitting to be
Allowed.
3^d As to his Maj^ties Hono^ble Councill
What we first designed was true, Yet we were so tend^r of
their hono^rs that We would not Suffer it to Appear upon our
Journa^ll
5 As to M^r Denton
That which yo^r Ex^cy & hono^ble Councill Call a Comittee
The house (tho they Acquiess w^th it) do not approue of that it
should be Called by th^t name, being the people Sumoned had
no Authority from the Country & durst not freely debate the
matter w^th Y^r Ex^ncy Wherefore the house Desire to be Excused
from Making any further Allowance to M^r Denton upon this
Score When We Settled the Clk of the Councill in Assembly
Sallary of 12000^ls tob^o p an. he Did promise th^t the Country

should further Charge for Any Writing in Relacon to his s^d
Office. This Allowance of 100^l tob^o was Intended for both
Comittees however is orded in the Journall of the Comittee
of Acco^tts
As to the Lett^r from the Navey Office we cannot returne
any Answer Vnles we Se Esq^r Randolphes Lett^r And being
it is Directed to him he ought to returne an Answer to it
