By the House of Del March 31th 1698

Resolved that Mr Jno Perry be Continued publick for
the ensuing year upon the Same foot as first Appointed

Brought from the House of Del by Mr Campbell and fiue
other Membrs the following Answer of the house to the Re-
marks of this Board on Yesterdays resolves ;

By the House of Delegates Aprill the 2d 1698

Answer to Severall Remarks upon the resolves of the
House sent yesterday by Mr Benj'n Hall and others

As to the Revivall Bill

Ist We have done our Dutyes in preparing a Reviving bill
and if his Excy will not pass it, It lyes not at our doores.
2d As to Mr Sewall since we are to Disburse the Countryes
money We are the Proper Judges of wht is fitting to be
Allowed.
3d As to his Majties Honoble Councill
What we first designed was true, Yet we were so tendr of
their honors that We would not Suffer it to Appear upon our
Journall
5 As to Mr Denton
That which yor Excy & honoble Councill Call a Comittee
The house (tho they Acquiess wth it) do not approue of that it
should be Called by tht name, being the people Sumoned had
no Authority from the Country & durst not freely debate the
matter wth Yr Exncy Wherefore the house Desire to be Excused
from Making any further Allowance to Mr Denton upon this
Score When We Settled the Clk of the Councill in Assembly
Sallary of 12000ls tobo p an. he Did promise tht the Country

should further Charge for Any Writing in Relacon to his sd
Office. This Allowance of 100l tobo was Intended for both
Comittees however is orded in the Journall of the Comittee
of Accotts
As to the Lettr from the Navey Office we cannot returne
any Answer Vnles we Se Esqr Randolphes Lettr And being
it is Directed to him he ought to returne an Answer to it
