Resolved that answer be Drawne up & sent to Message by
Coll Hutchins wch was Drawne up as followeth (viz)
The Honble Ion Hammond & Thomas Tasker Esqrs Enter
the house & prsent the following Message (viz)

By his Excy the Govr & Counciil in Assemb:
Iune 30th 1699.

Ordrd that the Honble Majr Iohn Hammond & Thos Tasker
Esqrs doe Ioyne wth the members of the house appointed of a
Comittee to Consider what obstructs the bulding the Church
& ffree scoole in this Towne & porte of Annapolis.

By the house of Delegates Iune the 30th 1699:

The Message by the Honble Coll. Charles Hutchins Thomas
Brooks Esqr Robt Smith Esqr Majr Ion Hammond and Thomas
Tasker Esqr was received
1: As to the first Article wee Humbly offer that this house
have all ready appoynted and sent out a Select Comittee for
the Reviseing & Compleateing the Body of Laws
2: This house have appoynted Mr Samll Young Mr Iacob
Moreland Mr Tho. Staley for to Ioyne wth his Majtyes Honble
Covncill to Consider of the building of the Church & ffree
Schoole
3: As to the Indians Affaires this house will take it into
their Consideration when such further Testiamoney as is
Expected Comes to Towne.
4: As to his Mastys Royall instructions wch your Excy was
pleased to Lay befor us wee have Considered of them & doe
not find any thing Lyes directly upon us to Answer
Indeed in the Eighth Paragraph wee find something men-
tioned of the Indians wch instructions wee shall pforme as yor
Excy and his Majtyes Honble Counciil & this house shall agree
upon when the Indian Matters shall come under Consideration
Ordrd that Mr Samll Young Mr Iacob Moreland & Mr
Thomas Staley Carry the aboue Message to his Excy and
Covncill
Who returne & say that they have delivered there Message
Vpon motion made to the house by Coll: Ion Thompson that
dureing setting of the Last Sessions he had been served wth
a Supa by Iohn Gray one of the vnder Sheriffs of this Covnty
Contrary to the Priviledges of this house and that the sd Iohn
Gray was now an officer attending upon his Excy and the
Covncill.
