The Councill Sate Esqr Tench also prsent Absent Majr Ion
Hafnond & Tho: Tasker Esqr

Then Came in Debate the Demand of Sr Thomas Laurence

Barrt as prsident of Maryland agt the Estate of Col Nicholas

Greenbery deceased late prsident of his Matys honble Councill
wthin this province.

Whereupon produced and read the following Reprsentation
in these words Vizt

To his Excy Nathaniel Blakiston Esqr Capt Genll and
Governor of Maryland in Councill.

Sr Thomas Laurence late prsident of his Matys honble Coun-
cill of this province humbly reprsenteth unto yor Excellency
That the said Sr Thomas by their Matys Royall Instructions
to Col Lyonel Copley late Governor of this province was ap-
pointed first Councellor of this his Matys province of Maryld as
by the same Instructions may Appear That after your Suppli-
cant Came into this province he Entred upon and Executed
the said trust for some small time till the sd Governor Copley
without any Iust Cause Suspended him from the Trust and
Station and Comitted him to prison without Baile or Mainprize
as by the Records of the Councill may Appear
That on or abt the 12th of Sept 1693 the sd Lyonel Copley
Dyed whereupon your Supplicant Came to St Marys and there
being no person Impowered to Comand in Chiefe the Gov-
ernmt Divolved on the Councill whereof your Supplicant was
prsident as afd and so it remained some small time.
But in About a fortnight or three weeks time to witt the
25th Sept Sr Edmund Andros Came from Virginia and Claimed

the Governmt by Virtue of a Comission (which though Imper-
fect) he Entred upon and yor Supplicant and the other Coun-
cellors were sworne and Sate in Councill for abt ten days And
then Sr Edmond going over to Virginia instead of leaving your
Supplicant prsident which was his due appointed Col Nicholas
Greenbery president
That Afterwards about the 3d of ffebry 1693 Advice of his
late Matys Anulling the said Suspencon Came to the said
Col Greenbery and the order thereof shewed him but was not
obeyed and yor Supplicant kept from his place till the 7th day
of May 1694 and then and not before was he putt in possession
of his place and therein Continued till the Arrivall of his Excy
Col Francis Nicholson into this province which was abt the
End of Iuly 1694:
That dureing the time of Sr Edmd Andros Governmt he
