Major Iohn Hafnond and Thomas Tasker Esqrs Appointed
upon that Conferrence.
To which was sent this Answer Vizt

By his Excy the Governor and Councill Iuly the 3d 1699.

The Honble Major Iohn Hafnond and Tho: Tasker Esqrs are
appointed to Conferr with the members of the house abt the
business of Majr Edward Dorsey.

Councill Sate prsent as yesterday
Came from the house Mr Iames Saunders, Mr Iacob More-
land and Mr George Ashman who brought the following Mes-
sage Vizt

By the house of Delegates Iuly the 4th 1699.

Whereas it is reprsented to this house that there is now in
the Custody of the Sheriffe of Ann Arundell County a Cer-
tein Malefactor Comitted for the horrid and Crying Sin of
Murther and An other in the Custody of the sherriff of St
Marys County for Comitting of an other murther and that to
keep and maintaine the said prisoners in the said prisons
untill the next provll Court will be a great Charge and Burthen
to the province and forasmuch as there is as well Severall of
his Matys Iustices of the provll Court and his Matys Attorney
Genll now in Towne whereby the said Criminalls may be
brought to speedy and Condigne punishmt and by that means
save the Charge afd
1. This house humbly prays that yor Excy will be pleased to
Grant a Comission of Oyer & Terminer for the Trying hear-
ing and Determining the Criminalls afd dureing the sitting of
this Sessions. Assented to.
2. This house has not yett taken the Indian Affair into their
Consideration Expecting some further Information from Col.
Addison wherefore we humbly pray yor Excy that if you have
any matter relateing thereunto to lay before this house that
you would be pleased to Comunicate the same to us.
3. This house humbly prays that Your Excy will be pleased
to Appoint the same Gent of his Matys honble Council to Ioine
