Esqr Frisby are appointed to Joyne wth them in the Confer-
rence, who being Mett, The members from the house Signifie
that they Cannot proceed in the Conferrence untill they have
acquainted the house the heads of w' they are sent to Conferr
about, wch being by ordr Writt out was dd. to them to be
Comunicated accordingly.
The houses Membrs repair to the house & againe Returne
upon the Conferrence, and Signifie that the house have
amended the ffyne in the sd Bill but Canot agree to any other
Alteration, which if required they are resolved to Stand by
the old Law.
The house having been acquainted that his Excy was
Ready for the Conferrence abt the Indians and other Matters.
Mr Speaker wth the other Membrs came up accordingly
To whom his Excy is pleased to say that one of the pro-
vincial Matters for wch he called the assembly was to Settle
the Matter abought the Indians. Which he thought no betf

way of doing then by a Conferrence wth the whole house,
upon wch Occasion he had now sent for them, and the first
thing he conceived to be Considered, Was how the said
Indians should be sent to.
Whereupon Mr Speaker acquaints his Excy that the house
has Considred of the Matter and agreed to leave it wholly to
his Excy and thought It necessary that his Excy Sr Edmond
Andross his Majties Govr of Virga should be sent to to get
leave for some persons from hence to goe to the piscattaway
Indians wch they desire may be done by English, and that they
may be asked whether they will Come in or not but if they
refuse to Come in they do advise not to break out into a
Warr wth them: Upon wch his Excy says he must put the
Country to the Charge of calling another assembly besides
their owne Trouble, therefor thinks it betf to settle that
point before they break up, and upon Mr Speakers Motions to
his Excy that he would please to give his Sence in that Case
of the Indians not Coming In.
His Excy is pleased to say that if they will not come back
he must take them to be Enemies to this Governmt
The Conference being ended and the Membrs departed to
the house.
Produced and read a Lre from the Honble Sr Thomas Law-
rence Bart Secry wth an Inclosed Resolve of the house of the
23d Inst for his attending the house on friday in the afternoone
&c. to Satisfie them how his honr and Mr Charles Carrol Clk
of the Lord Baltimores land office do both demand the full
fees for patents. Whereupon his Excy is pleased to demand
of the board whether they doe think themselves oblidged to
