the way Smooth to them, It will be better that they be
drawne off to the head of the Branch or Stodderts Plantacon,
and that Coll. Beale and a Levt under him Comand a party of
Six men, and owens Six more as will be thought Suffitient.
Upon the again reading a Message from the House of the
9th Instant relating to the Indians & comittees Report thereon
His Exncy is pleased to returne for answer, that he gives the
House thankes for their good Oppinion of him And hopes
that they Shall never haue reason to Say that either himself

or any of his Majtys honorble Councill will nevr putt the pro-
vince to the least unecessary Charge more then wts needfull
both for his Majtys honor and Service and Safety and Welfare
of the Country.

The Councill againe Sate and were present as yesterday
The Severall answers to the houses Resolves & Sundry Mes-
sages last night drawne up were produced fair writt out and
were read this Morning & sent to the house by the honbIe
Thos Tench Esqr & Colonel John Addison together wth the
bills yesterday read, and an Acct of w' proposalls have not
yett been answered.
Upon Representation that a Brigantine named Hare
belonging to Major Thos Ennalls & others hath lately Im-
ported Sundry Barbadoes goods for wch no dutyes have been
paid, Out of pretence that the said Vessell wholy belongs to
Maryland Owners, but by Information hath two or three other
persons that are no Inhabitants owners, whereby the imposi-
tion of 4d gallon Justly due hath been excluded; Ordered
that the sd Matter be referred to the Comittee of acctts to
inquire into it and Secure the dutyes due and payable to the
Country.
The Messengers Returne and Say that they delivered their
Message and that the Speaker (if possible) will attend at the
State house some time to day.
