Dies Veneris Novr the 11th 1698

The house mett againe and were called over, and were
absent Capt Tho Waughop, Mr Philip Clarke, Mr Iames Crau-
ford, Capt Philip Hoskins, Mr Benja Hall, Mr Iohn Ferrey, Mr
Wm Hutchinson and Majr Wm Barton, put to the vote that
for as much as Mr Wm Hutchison and Majr Wm Barton had
prsumtiously left the house whether they should be fyned for
such their contempt or past over. Carried in the affirmative,
put to the vote whether they should be fyned 500l of Tobacco
or 1000ls of Tobo Carried by the Majority of voices for 500l
of Tobo

Ordered that 500l Tobacco be deducted out of their Sallry
Resolved that the Vane, Globe, and other things thereunto
belonging that were sent for be paid for by the Country.
A Bill for appointing how publick officers shall recovr their
dues accruing by their offices being comitted for amendmt
was brought in and read and passed for engrossing.

By the house of Delegates Novr the 11th 1698

Whereas there is in the hands of the publick Treasr of the
Eastern Shoare the sum of 8480l of Tobo and in the hands of
the publick Treasr of the Western Shoare the sum of 5337l
of Tobo this house humbly pray your Excy that the same may
be applied towards defraying of the publick charge.

Ordered that Collo Iohn Thompson and Major Iohn Lowe
Carry the said Message. They returne and say they have
delivered the same.
The honble Collo Iohn Addison and Thomas Brookes Esq.
enter the house and present the following message thus en-
dorsed vizt
The message by Collo Thompson assented to by his Excy
and his Majts honble Councill

Ordered that the Comittee of Laws put in a clause in the
reviveing bill, that whereas the act made 1692 Entitled an Act
relating to Servts and Slaves, being a ppetuall Law by mis-
take was put into the reviveing bill in Iuly 1696.
That it is the sense of this house that the putting the same
into the said reviveing Bill but for three years or to the end
