Read the peticon of the Inhabitants on Indian River.
This house does humbly desire your Excy to comission some
person there to be a Justice of peace in order for the prservation
amongst them of the peace.
Read Ioseph Thompson's peticon praying an order of this
house for his quiet possession of a peice of Land.
The Petr referred to his defence at the cofnon Law

The house mett againe and were called over, absent Mr
Philip Clarke Mr George Ashman and Mr Wm Hemsley.
Mr John Ferry having urgent occasion was admitted to go

Mr Beards remonstrance relateing to publick Creditt yester-
day referred was read over.
Put to the vote of the Act of Assembly made in May 1697.
Entitled An Act ascertaineing what shall be the Sherriffes
duty in and upon returns by them made for publick dues and
officers fees.
Carryed Nemine Contradicente in the affirmative.
The proposall of his Excy and Councill on behalfe of Mr Ios
Mann yesterday referred to the consideration of a full house,
was read.
Madam Bournes peticon read, being yesterday referred.
The house resolved themselves into a Grand Comittee, and
Capt Richard Hill is ordered to make reporte of their pro-
ceedings at the next sitting.
The Comittee breaks up, and Mr Speaker having taken the
chair, Capt Hill makes report as followeth vizt
That he is ordered from the Comittee to acquaint them,
that for as much as the Severall Comittees are to go out by
which means the members of the remaining part of the mem-
bers, will be but small that as many members as will constitute
a house shall take into consideration the Peticon of Madm
Bourne and the proposall relateing to Mr Mann and do what
they shall thinke necessary in these affaires.
The Bill Impowering the Vestrymen, Churchwardens &c to
assess the parishioners, read tbe second time was comitted for
amendmt
