Whereupon the Gentn of the Councill are pleased to reco-
mend to the house that unless It appears Mr LLewellin was
paid the Same either by his Ex.cy Colonel Copley or the
Assembly his said Sallery be now paid his adrx
A Bill for promotion of Learning &c read & sent to the
House
The message of the house of Nor the first 1698 being taken
into Consideration
1. It is remarqued to the house that his Matys Letter of the
27th of Aprill 1697 never Came to hand being lost in the
Advice Capt Baslock Comander
2. As to the Acct of Stores the Acct is allredy sent
3. As to his late Excy Govr Coplys Estate answering the
qr part of the Revenue Directions are given therein to the
Attorney Genll
6. As to the Boundaryes of the province Directions were
sent but Miscarried
7. As to Transcribeing the Laws and what proper Altera-
tions That part of the paragraph being part of his Matys Royall
Instructions is not to be Subjected to the opinion of the House
which is found not to be inffallible but Erroneous and some of
the Members Actions Arbitrary factious & seditious as will
appear by theire Journalls. And as to the other part Con-
cerning Laws for a Temporary End not being twice Enacted
& though being materiall and what the house very well know
his Excy has often laid before them they haue omitted to
answer
10. The Orders to the Sherriffs were that they should
make distinct Returnes According to the Act of parliament
which they did not but mixt wth other returns

11 As to forfeitted Bonds
His Excy is pleased to say that he dos not desire the thanks
of the House for doeing his duty to his Maty which was to
send a Copy of the Address home and give his Opinion
thereon And those people agt whom there are Judgemts upon
such Bonds are advised not to depend upon theire being dis-
charged thereby.
12. It being the opinion of there Ldps ye Rt honble the Lds
of the Councill of Trade and forreigne plantations That such
Great Tracts of Land ought not to be granted to persons
unable to Cultivate them. The House will do well to make
some Order therein to be served upon the Ld Baltemores
agents to take Care therein
13. As to the houses Conception that the Country has no
need of his Matys Gracious pdon
They are to the first Body or Society of people tht never
refused such his Matys Grace
