The Busieness of the Nanticoke Indians Concerning their
Lands formerly referrd by this Board to the Assembly is
Ordred to be layd before the house of Delegates
The Boarde adjourne untill to Morrow morning at 8 of the
Clock

Tuesday Novr the first 1698

His Matys honble Councill Sate in Assembly being prsent as
yesterday
Ordered that the following Message and proposals be sent
to the house by the honble Colonel Jowles and Thomas Brooke
Esqr Vizt

By his Excy the Govr and Councill in Assembly
Nor 1rst 1698

1 Reconiended to the house that they will appoint borne ot
their Members to joyne wth Colonel Jowles and Esqr Brookes
to examine and Margine the Laws transcribed according to
the Directions of the Rt honble the Lords of the Councill of
Trade and fforraign Plantations and that Care be taken to
have the Clks paid according to Agreemt wth his honorable
Colonel Jowles and Major Hamond
2 Reconiended that the House will make an Act to Ascer-
tayne the Charge to the Grand Jury of the province and the
Grand Jury of the Sevrall Countys as also Certain forms of
Oathes for the Severall officers to take pursuant to a former
proposal Cast last Sessions of Assembly

3 That the house will Consider how to Modellize the Act
abt the Militia of this province so as to render them more
serviceable upon all Occasions and to lighten the Burthen
thereof upon the poorer Sort of Inhabitants.
4 The staff which the person who attends the house in the
Nature of a Serj' at Arms Bears, His Excy is pleased to make
a p'sent of to the Country provided it be thus used Vizt
To be carryed before the honble the Chancellor the Speaker
of the house Delegates the Chief Justice of the provinciall
Court the Comissary Genll for probate of Wills and judge of
the Admiralty as Occasion requires
5 Proposed that the house would discourse Colonel Ennalls
and Lievt Coll: Hicks abt the Complt of the Natuok Indians
and that same Ordr pass that their Land be run out to put an
End to that Dispute
6 His Excy the Govr Virgas Lre together with his Procla-
macon ffor the Apprehending Mr Cood is sent for yor pusall
7 Major Whittingtons pet. and Compll is referrd to Con-
sideration of the house.
