Day of June next for the meeting and holding of the said
General Assembly and the several Sheriffs within this State
are hereby enjoined to give Public and due Notice thereof

[Council to S. Steward.]

In Council Annapolis 14th May 1778.
Sir.
We have 50 Hhds of Tobo on Board the Baltimore Galley,
designed for the Molly. That vessel will want 20 or 25 Hhds
more and will probably be delayed for want of them, unless
we can get them somewhere convenient. Can you lend us

that Number any where in this Neighbourhood ? if you can,

send us an Order for them.
We are &ca
Mr Stephen Steward.

[Council to R. Dallam.]

In Council 14th May 1778.
Sir.
The Sheriff of Harford informs us that as soon as the Regu-
lar Officers give Receipts for the Substitutes, he pays the sixty
Dollars bounty which is agreeable to our Intention in our In-
structions to him, and all that we can or ought to direct. The
Recruiting Offiers are not entitled to the sixteen Dollars for
Substitutes. We imagine, with you and every where else, the
getting more Men into the Service, as Recruits, is at an End,
and the few Days before which the Burthen is to fall on the
Classes, will probably, nearly" expire before this reaches you :
wherefore it is not worth while now to send up recruiting
Warrants. Your letter of the 30th of April on this Subject,
came to Hand only to Day.
We are &ca
Colo Richd Dallam.
