Commegy's 1 Lieut, Culthbert Hall 2d Lieut, John Haley
Ens. of a Compy of Militia in the 27 Batt in Kent County &
also to James Dunn son of Ezekiah, 2d Lieut of Capt
Williamsons Co. and Robert Weeks Ens. of Capt. Tildens
Compy in the 13 Batt. of Militia in Kent County.

Camp Butter Milk Falls 19 Septr 1779
Sir
General Smallwood Informs me that you have requested
him to transmit you accurate Returns of the Maryland
Troops also of the Cloathing wanted for them the ensuing
Winter, with the names of the Comd & Staff Officers of the
seven Regiments:
I presume that your Excellency has forgot there is two
Brigades in the Maryland line & that General Smallwood
being appointed to the Command of the first, cannot upon
Just Military principles Interfere with the police of the Second,
or claim a right to any kind of Returns from me as I wish to
promote the Interest & happiness of the Officers & men under
my command, so I equally mean to preserve that Command
Inviolable. I herewith enclose you such Returns as I am
Inform'd are necessary & am
With due Respect

Present as on Saturday
On the Application of William Smith Esqr of Baltimore
Town who is to this Purpose commissioned and Authorized
by Mr Holker who is Agent for the Marine of his most
Christian Majesty, Licence is hereby granted to Lade and
Export in the Brigantine called the Queen of France now
lying in the Port of Baltimore, her Cargoe of Flour and other
Provisions for the Use of the Fleet and Army of his most
Christian Majesty in the West Indies the said Brigantine
clearing out at the proper Office and the Captain previously
thereto, delivering into such Office a Manifest of her Lading
and together with two other of the Principal Officers of the said
Brig making Oath on the Holy Evangelists of Almighty God
