be signified to you are intended to be made and advise us
which ought, in your Opinion, to be granted or rejected and
that you will add such Remarks as you think ought to Influence
one Way or the other. We think it the Intention of the
Legislature, and so wish to conduct ourselves, to give the
Relief only in Cases where the Damage done is very great or
the Person poor or so that from the Injury he is in consider-
able Degree disabled from paying the Taxes, and not to
discount Taxes generally to the Value of Losses which have
happened in many Ways to most People of this State. Be
pleased to add whether the Persons applying took the Oath or
Affirmation of Fidelity and Support to the State in Time,
according to Law. We are &ca

Monday 16 August 1779

Present as on Saturday except Thomas Sim Lee Esquire
Ordered that the western shore Treasurer pay to John
Hanson Esquire Thirty six Pounds, ninteen shillings and
Eleven Pence to be delivered over to Henry Brother per Ac-
count passed by the Depy Aud.
That the said Treasurer pay to Capt Thomas Beall six
thousand Dollars for the use of himself Capt Adamson
Tannehill & Adjut. Josiah Tannehill Officers of that part of
the late Rawlings Regimt raised and recruited in this State in
leiw of the Articles allowed to them for the present Year
according to the late Act of Assembly
Ordered that the western shore Treasurer pay to James
O Hara seventy five Pounds allowed to him by this Board up
to the present time by Virtue of a Resolve of the General
Assembly passed the 7th Day of this Instant.
That the Commissary of Stores deliver to John Shove a 9
Mo Soldier in the 5th Regt Dischd the amt of twenty nine
Pounds ten shillings in Cloathing due him by Act of Assembly
to procure Troops for the American Army
That the said Commissary deliver to James O Hara 1 pr
Shoes and 1 pr Overalls
Commissions issued to Edward Salmon appointed Capt in
the room of Abraham Haff Esqr John Link 1 Lieut, Henry
Hinds 2d Lieut, & James Hooper Ens. belonging to the Fred-
erick Town Battalion of Militia in Frederick County.
