[Council to S. Purviance.]
In Council 5th August 1779
Sir.
We are very desirous of selling with our Matrosses in such
Manner as to give no Uneasiness. We understood the Money
which was advanced them before they sailed, was in Part of
their monthly Pay and not as a Bounty. We shall be glad to
be informed, by the earliest Opportunity, what you did pay
them exactly and for what Purposes, and whether it was in-
clusive or exclusive of what they were entitled to as Matrosses,
as well as the Satisfaction made the Officer who went with
them.

Present as on Yesterday
Ordered that the Commissary of Stores deliver to James
Devins a 9 Mo Soldier in the 2d Regimt Dischd the amt of
twenty one Pounds, two shillings in Cloathing due him per
Act of Assembly to procure Troops for the American Army.
That the western shore Treasurer pay to Samuel Hughes
Esqr Five Pounds three shillings for the use of John Lydey,
