advised us of the strength of his Teams or the Forwardness
he is in, in the Removal of the Stores, we have advised it
from the first and frequently repeated it. We think, in good
Boats & careful Hands, the Arms might be sent safely by
Water to Alexandria, they ought to call here and a Look out
Boat, & better two, if we can muster them, should be sent at
least fifteen miles ahead, with Directions to run up Patuxent,
here or Patapsco, on a Signal agreed on. We would prefer this
Mode as endangering much less, the Breaking of the Arms,
its being more expeditious and if absolutely necessary, giving
us a Chance of using them ourselves. Miller may not get up
so soon as this, we inclose you the Information he gives to

In Council Annapolis 24th May 1779
Sir.
We wrote to Genl Buchanan to send to the Head of Elk for
some Arms which we hope are arrived with you; if not, a very
careful Hand in a Boat must be sent up immediately for them.
Genl Buchanan had the Order & Acct of Particulars, they are
to be delivered to his Order and all other Arms & Accoutri-
ments you have. Please to let Lieut Judah have 15 Barrls of
the Pork sent by the Genl Smallwood and note the Parcels of
Lead you received by her, which, we had Reason to think was
more than you mention. We are &ca
