what Flour you may get carried to and safely stored at Land-
ings from whence it may be readily sent off by Water and
further, that you'll send us an Account of the particular
Quantity you may have at each Place, by the 20th May. In
the mean Time write us how Matters go on, every week.

In Council Annapolis 30th April 1779
Sir.
We received, by this Day's Post, your Letter of the 21st
Inst In Consequence of your Former Letter, we had directed
the Purchasers under our Appointmt to send what Flour they
might obtain to the Head of Elk, to be waggoned from thence
under the Care of Henry Hollingsworth to Christiana Bridge
from whence it might be transported to any Part of Delaware
Bay in Shallops; what might be purchased at the Mills between
the Head of Elk and the Bridge, we ordered to be immediately
sent to Christeen; we now write by this Post to stop that in
the Mills where it is purchased & to the other Purchasers to
have what they may have got or can procure, carried to
convenient Landings on this Bay & there stored, sending us
particular Accounts that we may be enabled to give you the
Satisfaction you desire. It is with real Concern we see that
there's no Prospect of the Price of Grain and Flour falling, but
that on the Contrary several Circumstances concur to give

Scope to the Avarice of Invividuals. The Permission given
to the Massachusetts State to purchase Grain & Flour and
Humanity forbid a Refusal, has made new Competitors in the
Purchase and the Injury done by the severe Frost to the
growing Crop, is truly alarming, we cannot say where the
Price will stop, we have been under the Necessity of consenting
to give £22 ...10. We inclose you a very rough & imperfect
Estimate of what has been done. We have no Doubt of the
Integrity of the Gentlemen we have appointed & that in
general, the Business will be conducted with Prudence.
