carried to Baltimore, Mrs Chamier sending with the Goods a
particular Invoice of the Household Furniture and of the
Marks and Numbers of the Packages of her Wearing Apparel,
and making an Affidavit endorsed on the Invoice that the
Goods therein mentioned are her own Property and for own
Use
Recommendation given to Thomas Jones of Baltimore
Town to the Commanding Officer at the Posts near the
British Lines for Leave to have an Interview on the Lines with
a Gentleman of New York, if the Business cannot be conducted
on the Lines, Leave is given him to go into the City of New
York on his obtaining the proper Permission according the
Resolution of Congress

In Council 29th April 1779
Sir
Permit the loading & clear out the Schooner John, Capt John
Harris Master for Boston with Flour or Grain, he being
addressed to Messrs Hoofman & May for that Purpose by the
Board of War of the State of Massachusetts in the same Man-
ner & on the same Terms as we directed the Lading & clearing
out of the Schooner Bonner Capt Richard Stiles by our Letter
of the 22d Inst

Genl

We have furnished Capt Harris with a Permit to load
his Vessel Capt Sweat's Schooner lying in Chingoteague
in Virginia, we cannot with Propriety, give any Permission
or Instruction as to her Loading. We apprehended, so
soon as any Cargoe sent from Hence for the loading
that or any other Vessel, is landed in Virginia, it is
subject to the Laws of that State, so that Permission from the
Government of Virginia is necessary
