no use to the Governor and Council, they have desired me to
return them, together with their Thanks for your Kindness ;
they would have been sent some Time ago, but not having a
good Opportunity has prevented it.

In Council 6th Augt 1778.
Sir.
One James McDonell of the second Maryland Regiment,
who is a Substitute for nine Months, is stopped here as a
Deserter, he says he says he had a Furlough which he left at
your House, but cannot tell from whom he received it. Pre-
suming you are a Friend of his, we desire you will bring or
send the Furlough to us soon if you have it, otherwise he will
be sent to Camp as a Deserter.

Present as on yesterday. Daniel Carroll Esquire Attended.
Ordered that the western shore Treasurer Pay to Elisha
Winters three hundred and forty five Pounds, five shillings per
Acct passed by A. Genl
That the Commissary of Stores deliver to Comodore
Grason Twine and what other Articles he may want from Time
to Time for any of the Vessels.
That Capt. Campbell supply Comr Grason, with what
Powder & other Ammunition, Guns and Stores belonging to
the Vessels; he may want from Time to time taking his
Receipts.
It appearing to this Board that of the Money collected in
Virtue of the Act of Assembly entitled "An Additional Sup-
plement to the Acts for Assessment of Property" and now in
the Hands of the Treasurer of the Western shore Fifty thou-
sand Dollars can be spared from Defraying the necessary Ex-
pences of this State, It is therefore Ordered that the same be
set apart towards complying with the first Quarterly Payment
according to the late Requisition of Congress.
