[Council to B. Mackall.]

In Council Annapolis 13th June 1778.
Sir.
A Letter received yesterday Evening from Congress, urges
us to send forward our Quota of Troops. We request you
to send the Substitutes and Drafts for your County, to Annap-
olis as soon as you can. From hence we shall send them to
the Head of the Bay, by Water, it will expedite and much
ease them.

In Council 13th June 1778.
Capt Matthews.
You are to proceed in the Independence Galley to Chaptico
Warehouse on Wiccomico River and receive of Capt John
Thomas, who lives within a Mile of it, the Provisions that he
has purchased, and call on your Way down at the other Land-
ings on Patowmack, where he may have lodged any, and re-
ceive that also. If the Galley will, as we expect take more
than Capt Thomas has, of which you and he can judge, take
so much of the continental Provision at Llewellins Warehouse
in the care of Mr ONeal, as will about make up your Load.
You are to proceed to the Head of Elk with the Provisions
as soon as you well can, just calling in the Mouth of this River
in your Way.

[Circular to County Lieutenants.]

Circular In Council Annapolis 13th June 1778.
Sir.
We received a Letter yesterday from Congress, urging us
to forward our Quota of Troops to Camp. We request that
you will send forward to General Smallwood's Camp, any
Recruits, Substitutes or Drafts who may yet be behind of the
Proportion of your County with all Expedition, and furnish
us with a List of the Men from your County, advising us
whether it is necessary to appoint Officers for the Drafts,
agreeable to the Act of Assembly
