That the said Treasurer Pay to Jesse Bussey five Pounds for
a Gun
That the said Treasurer pay to James Calhoun Esqr two
thousand five hundred and twenty five Pounds fourteen Shill-
ings and nine Pence out of the thirty thousand Dollars Ap-
propriated by the Assembly due to him per Account passed
by the Auditor General
That the said Treasurer pay to Doct Henry Schnebely one
hundred and sixty eight Pounds eight Shillings for the use of
John Stull per Acct passed Co. Clk.
William Spicer of Ann Arundel County took the Oath of
Fidelity & Supt to this State and Richard Thomas of Mont-
gomery County took the affirmation according to the late Act
and certificates given.

In Council 7th April 1778.
Sir
We last Night received Mr Waters's Resignation or rather
Refusal to act as Purchaser of Provisions in Montgomery
County under the late Act, and we inclose you an Appoint-
ment and send you by Capt Griffith, two thousand Dollars to
go on with. It is essential to the Service that we should be
regularly furnished with a Monthly Return of your Purchase,

agreeable to the Act, and we request you will specify in it the
Place to which you collect the Provisions. If you should get
any barrelled Pork or Beef, you will be careful to have it
examined and, if there's any Doubt of its Keeping, you must,
by all Means, have it put into proper Order and, if necessary,
Salt added.

Expecting that Mr Joshua Johnson of London has removed
to France, we have empowered him to apply for a Loan of

Freedom, on the Uncertainty of his being there, to give the like
