general as well as the particular Interest of Virginia and

Saturday 23rd May 1778

Present as on yesterday
Ordered That the western shore Treasurer Pay to Jonathan
Parker eight Pounds eleven shillings Bala of Account due him
for going Express to Williamsburgh per Acct passed by the
Aud. General
That the said Treasurer Pay to Colo John H. Stone one
hundred and twenty Dollars the Bounty of two Recruits
enlisted by Capt. Lil. Williams for the 2d Regimt
That the said Treasurer Pay to John Proctor one hundred
and one Pounds sixteen shillings & three Pence for work
done to the Chester Galley & the further Sum of Seventeen
Pounds two shillings for the use of Willm Forepaugh per
Accts passed by the Aud. Genl
Ordered That the western shore treasurer Pay to Richard
Arescott Three hundred Pounds to be delivered over to Wil-
liam Hemsley Esqr Lieut of Queen Annes to be delivered
over to the Militia of that County ordered to march & ex-
pended to enable them to march to the Head of Elk.
A number of the Inhabitants of the Upper Part of Queen
Annes County having represented their being in great Danger
from Parties of Tories Commanded by Cheney Clows the
said Cheney Clows and his Parties having lately committed
several Roberies and taken some of the inhabitants out of their
Houses and have therefore requested a small party of Militia
to scout in those Parts which is thought necessary and is
therefore recommended by the Lieut of Queen Annes County
immediately order out any Number of the Militia he may judge
proper not exceeding Forty under proper Officers nor for a
longer Time than one Month to serve as a scouting Party for
the Protection and Defence of the inhabitants in the upper
Part of Queen Annes County and the Neighbourhood thereof
with Power if necessary to act in the State of Delaware
The Petition of Robert Drake praying to be discharged
was thus endorsed
It appearing by the Certificate of William Deakins Junr that
the Petitioner was taken up and carried before him as a
Vagrant and that on due examination and enquiry he
