    Councellors in our said province Untill they shall be Confirmed Lib. H. D.

    by vs or that by the Nomination of others by vs vnder our

    Signe Manuall & Signet the said Councill shall have Seaven

    persons in it And Wee doe hereby Give & Grant Unto you p. 3

    full power & Authority with the Advice & consent of our said

    Councill from time to time as need shall Require to Sumon &

    Call Generall Assemblies of the ffreeholders within your

    Governmt according to the Usage of our Province & Territory

    of Maryland Our Will & Pleasure is that the persons therevpon

    duly Elected by the Major part of the ffreeholders of the

    respective Counties and places and so Returned And having

    before their siting taken the Oaths appointed by Act of Par

    liamt to be taken instead of the Oaths of Allegiance &

    Supremacy as also the Test which you shall Comissionate fit

    persons vnder our Seale of Maryland to Administer vnto them

    and without taking which none shall be Capable siting though

    Elected shall be Called and held the Generall Assembly of

    that our province And that you the said ffrancis Nicholson by

    and with the consent of our said Councill & Assembly or the

    Major part of them respectively have full power & Authority

    to make Constitute & Ordaine Laws Statutes & Ordinances

    for the publick peace Welfare & good Governmt of our said

    Province and the people and Inhabitants thereof And such

    others as shall Resort thereto and for the benefit of Us our

    heirs & Successors Which said Laws Statutes & Ordinances

    are to be as neare as may be Agreeable to the Laws & Statutes

    of this our Kingdome of England Provided that all such Laws

    Statutes & Ordinances of what Nature or duration soever be

    within three Months or sooner after the making thereof

    Transmitted Unto Us vnder our Seale of Maryland for our

    Approbation or disallowance of the same as also Duplicates

    thereof by the next Conveyance or if it shall happen that dur

    ing this time of Warr no shipping shall Come from our said

    province within three Months after the making such Laws

    Statutes & Ordinances whereby the same may be transmitted

    as aforsd that then the said Laws Statutes & Ordinances be

    Transmitted Unto Us by the next Conveyance after the making

    thereof for our Approbation or disallowance of the same And

    in case any or all of them being not before Confirmed by Us

    shall at any time be disallowed & not Approved and so signi

    fyed by vs our Heirs & Successors Under our or their Signe *

    Manuall & Signet or by Order of our or their privy Councill

    Unto you the said ffrancis Nicholson or to the Comander in

    Cheife of our said province for the time being then such &

    soe many of them as shall be so disallowed and not Approved

    shall from thence for Cease, determine & become Utterly p. 4

    Voyd & of None Effect any thing to the contrary thereof
