D. that I never had any directions or Comands from his EXnCY our prsent Governor to Act or do anything whatever belonging to my Office either for, or in prjudice of any person or persons whatsoever, nor any advice or Instruction from his Exncy further then to be dilligent in my Duty to Dispatch the Countrey Business, nor Ever had so much as the thoughts of giving any part of the proffit or perquisets of my Offices to his sd Exncy or any Guift or prsent to him for Conferring them upon me so help me God and his holy word. Maryland: ss. Oath of rome We the Subscribers being Members of his Mats of the Coun cill abt honrble Councill of this Province, do hereby Solemnly his ExnCys declare that we have not at any time, either directly Governmt or Indirectly Received any directions or Comand
from his Exncy the prsent Govr to do any illegall Act or thing whereby Justice may be perverted or to Regulate or Square our Actions contrary to the Station and places of his Mats Councillrs in wch his Maty hath been pleased to place us here; Given under our hands this 15th day of December in the Eighth year of his Mats Reign &ca Annoq Domini 1696. Maryland ss: Oath of the We the Subscribers Officiateing by Commission, in the Quallifycacon of his Mats Justices of the Provll ciall Court Court of this Province do hereby solemnly declare that we did Never directly nor Indirectly Receive any Comand or direction from his Exncy the prsent Governr for the doing any illegall Act or thing whereby Justice might be perverted or the Law Strain'd beyond its p. 83 due limits, either for the ifavouring or punishing any partic ular party or parties, but that both the Generall & particular Comands We have always Recd from his Exncy have been to see Speedy Justice done & good Rules made for the more Effectuall putting in prosecucon all the Laws of England & of this Province; Given under our hands this 14th day of December in the Eigth year of his Mats Reign &ca Annoq Domini 1696.
