560 Proceedings of the Council of Maryland, 1694 97.

Servicc although I can demonstrate to yor Exncy that the same has been out of my Pocket above Ten Thousand pounds of Tobo a year in my private practice by severall Persons that have been Sued and prosecuted in his Mats name whqse Attorney I should have been had I not been Sworne in his Mats Service &ca That the ffees arising out of those Pleas Criminalls (besides that they are very Small) are due to the Attorney Genll from whom I have not Recd any. Whitehall Therefore in Reguard the Attorney may Receive the ffees, and besides that, holds two other good places of proffit under his Maty such as Receiver Gen'll and Collector yor Peticonr humbly Prays your Exncy's Consideration of him and that you will be ifavourably pleased to settle something of Salary on him for the time past and to Come that he may thereby be Enabled chearfully and diligently to Continue his Service to his Maty in the sd Office during his Mats pleasure. And as in Duty bound shall Ever Pray &ca

Whitehall Coll: Addi- Signed by his Exncy & passed the Broad Seal of the son & the Province, the sd Coll: Addison having Administred broad Sealdd to him unto him the Oaths appointed by Act of Parliamt
to be taken instead of the Oaths of Allegiance and Supremacy as also the Oath of a Commissionr in Chancery The Broad Seal of the Province is Ordered to be delivered unto him.
Ordr is re- Ordered that it be Referred to the honble the Jus ferred to the Justices of tices of the Prov” Court and Lawyers whether it the provil may not be more for his Mats Service & good of the Co: for their Opinion abt Countrey that the Court of Chancery and the the Court of Governr & Councill for hearing Appeals and Writts Whitehall of Error, do Lit at the End of every provll Court, cils Sitting and that they make Report thereof to this Board accordingly with all Convenient Speed.
