bearing Equall date with these prsents Now if the sd Wm Dent Lib. H. D. Shall well and truly perform the sd Office according to the p. 57 Severall Acts of Parliamt in that Case made and provided and shall observe the directions contained in the Acts of Assembly of this Province relating to the Duty of Navall Officers and from time to time Save Defend and keep harmless the ffrancis Nicholson Esq from all Damage Loss and Charges that he the sd ffrancis Nicholson shall Sustain at any time by reason of the Dents non performance of his sd Office (so long as he shall Enjoy the Same) as in the sd Severall Laws is Enacted & ordained, Then the above Obligacon to be void and of none Effect Otherwise to remain in full force and Virtue. To Majr Jno Thos Smithson Treasurer on the Eastern Thompson Navll Officer at Sassafrax Shore.
October the 12th 1696.
The Councill again Sate and were prsent as before. Ordr abt Ordered that what persons as shall be Summoned out of any of the Counties on the Eastern Shore to bad weather Serve as Grand Jury men next December Court to
be held at the port of Annapolis &cca that if by chance they meet with such bad weather after their Setting out as that they Cannot reach to be here by the ffirst day of the sd Court, Whitehall that then they Return back again & doe not Come, for that their places (upon such Accidents will be Supplyed out of the other Counties, whereof the Sherriffs are to Give Notice to the sd Persons accordingly. Came Majr Robert King Navll Officer of Pocomoke District, Whitehall who made Oath to his collection of the 1s p hhd. amounting to the Sume of 37 ll 14s 04d Sterl.
