Proceedings of the Council of Mayland, 1694—97. 463 Maryland ss. Lib. H. D. Jeremi: Know all men by these prsents, That wee Jeremi:
Waters of Somerset County in the sd province of the portu. Maryland Marriner and Arthur Denwood of the gueez boy County and Province aforesd planter are holden and
ffirmly bounden unto Majr Thomas Ennalls of Dor chester County Mercht in the full and Just Sume of two hun dred pounds Sterl Current and lawfull money of and in Eng land to be paid Convenient unto the Sd major Ennalls his heirs Executors Admrs or Assignes To which paymt well & truly to p. 371 be made We bind Us or Either of us, our heirs or Either of them Joyntly or severally ffirmly In Witness whereof we have hereunto set our hand and Seals this Seventeenth day of July Anno Domini 1696. The Condition of this Obligation is such that if the above bounden Jeremi: Waters doth procure a Portugueez boy from Carolina and the same bring into this province & deliver him with all expedition to the sd Majr Ennalls in Ordr to his passage home to the Madera's as in a Speciall Warrt Signed by his Exncy ffrancis Nicholson Govern of this his Mats province is expressed, & also save the sd Ennalls & his Correspondents in the Madera's harmless and indemnifyed that then this Obligation to be Void & of none Effect otherwise to be in full force strength and Vertue. Read an Information made by Matthew Scarborough as follows Vizt. The Information of Mr Matthew Scarborough of Somerset County.
Mr Scar-S This Informant Sayth, that about the middle of boroughs in formation June last there Came a certain Sloope or Vessell touching from Philadelphia into the Inlet upon the Sea Side Trade used in Somerset County which (as this Informant being at the Inlet Credibly told) having her loading of Tobo Provision Whitehall in Somerset County. and other Goods ready provided for her, tooke the
Same on board and went away therewith without Entring or Clearing. Matth: Scarborough
