   Mary Mary Megrauohs petition for Remittance of a Lib. H. D.

   mne Ot 10 lb ffine of Ten pounds Strl was Referred to his Mats

   remitted Receiver Genll and vpon his Report & the considera- Whitehall

  

   tion of the petitionr being very poor, was remitted accordingly.

  

  

  

                  May the ffirst 1696.

  

  The Councill again Sate & were prseflt as before, with the Whitehall

                Addition of Esqr ifrisby.

  

   Alexander Produced to the Board by the honoble James ifrisby

  

  Mation a pet Read    Esqr a petition of one Allexander Mallon & Henry

          Hill, which was Read, setting forth that being come

   out of Virginia into this province in December last one of them

   had been taken & kept vnder Execution by the Under Sherriff p.

   of Caecill County (where they now Reside) vntill he gave

  

   security for paymt of the publick Leavy as other inhabitants

   do, and that the other likewise expected to be so served; there

   fore humbly prayed for Relief therein; His Excell is pleased

   to Aske how the Custom of the Countrey is in that Case, who

   do say that the persons are vsually Resident in the province

   Twelve Months before they pay any Leavyes; besides Decem

   ber was too late for taking the Leavy's of any person, That a

   person coming from Duck Creeke had paid a Leavy contrary

   to Law &ca

     His Excellency therevpon is pleased to Aske the sd Esqr

   ifrisby what induced the sd Sherriff to do so, who does say that

   he met the high Sherriff lately vpon the Road discourseing

   him about it, the said Sherriff told him that he had his Excells

   Ordrs for Collecting all such Leavyes;

  

  

   Sherriff of Ordered therevpon that precept go from this

   County Board directed to one of the Coroners of the sd

   sent for County, commanding him to take into his Custody

   the . Body of the sd Sherriff, so tht he bring him down here

   immediately before this Board for to Answer &Ca And that

   his Undersherriff in the mean time take care to Execute that

   Charge.

  

                   May the 1st 1696.

  

   Coll Herman Ordered that Coll Casparus Augustin Herman of

   to apprehend Comegys & Caecill County do immediately vpon sight hereof

  

   Nichols Raise the Militia of his County & Apprehend & take

  

   into his custody the Bodies of Cornelius Comegys & Amos Whitehall

   Nichols persons living vpon the ifrontiers of this province &

   driving a secret trade with the fforraign Indians as is credibly
