for New York Reign; Our will and pleasure was Signifyed to You that a Quota or Part of our Militia of our Province of Maryland under Yor Governmt not Exceeding one hundred and Sixty men Should be the measure of the assistance to be given by our Province for the Defence and Security of our Province of New York, which you were thereby Charged and Required at all times upon the application of our Governr or Commander in Cheif of our sd Province of New York to pro vide and send to be under his Command and Direction for the Defence of our sd province, and Whereas You have repre sented unto Us, that having in Obedience to our Commands recommended to the Care of the Genll Assembly of our Pro vince of Maryland, The providing a fitt Supply for this Ser vice, they had alledged that the Inhabitants of our sd Province being very poor by Reason of the Warr and the Lowe price of Tobo with the daily apprehensions they are in of fforreign Indians; They are become uncapable of Affording such Assist ance to New York, and had therefore humbly pray'd to be Excused from all Contributions of that nature, but that for the prsent, and till our pleasure herein should be better known they had appropriated the Sume of Two hundred pounds to lye Ready for this Service, and have accordingly Empowered you to dispose thereof as there Shall be Occasion, We doe accord ingly hereby Require & Direct you to apply the sd Sume of Two hundred Pounds appropriated by our Assembly of Mary land, as aforementioned towards the assistance of our province of New York against the ifrench and Indians in those parts,
