             Letter to His Excellency our Governr having Received the

             his Excell. inclosed Propositions set out for Albany on the

       

             seaventh instant & left directions to transmit a Copy thereof

             to your Exncy

               Our Indians Call aloud for assistance and are Zealous to

        Whitehall have the ifrench removed from Cadaracqui, some small parties

             of ifrench have been met on this side the Lake and blows

             interchanged with small loss on either side, We are,

               Propositions made by Tenn of the principall Sachims of the

             Mahages Country in the Court house of Albany the 28th day

             of August, 1695.

             Mahage We are come to acquaint your EXnCY with the

             Indians Propositions Message directed to Us from the Upper Nations

                    how things go there, We have sent you some of our

             young Indians before to have a Post ready that our propo

             sitions might be sent to your Excellency with all speed.

               The Governr of Canida hath aiwayes desired to speake of

             peace with the ffive Nations and that he would come so farr as

             to Cadaracqui, but now We see it is a false design, for now

             We bring a token from the ffive Nations whereby We acquaint

             your Excell that it is certain that the Governr of Canida hath

             kindled his fire at Cadaracqui again and is busy to Repair the

             Walls; Now I speak from Dekanitsore Captain of the Onon

             dages who desires the thirty Soldiers that were promised to

             him formerly to lye in Garrison at Onondage, do give a belt

             of Wampum, 16 deep.
