to execute & performe all & singular the Powers & directions Lib. C. B. contained in their Majties Comission to the said Governr Cop ley in which said Coniission their Majties have been pleased to signifye their Will & pleasure that in Case of the death or absence of such Governt and noe other person Comissioned to be Comander in Cheife of this their Province that then the Councill of Maryland should take vpon them the Administra tion of the Governmt and Executeing the said Coniission and the severall Powers & Authorities therein contained, And that such Councillr whoe should be at the time of the death or ab sence of the said Governr from this Governmt resideing with in this their Majties Province and Dominion before any other at that time resideing here, doe Preside in the said Councill with such Powers & preheminences as any former President p. 31 hath Used & Enjoyed within the said Province or any other their Plantations in America, Untill the Arrivall of such Gov ernor or their Majties pleasure should be further knowne there in And forasmuch as their Mats have been pleased to Comand my present Service in their Colony of Virginia, and at present there being noe other person, vpon this place comissionated to be Cornander in Cheife of this their Province & Dominion, Pursueant therefore to their Majties Comission to me directed I doe (by advice in Councill) in their Majties Names by this Proclamation, Notify and make knowne the administration of the Governmt and the Execution of the sd Comission, and the severall Powers and Authorities therein Contained (for & during my absence) or their Majties pleasure further knowne, to be in the Councill of this their Majties Province & Dominion, and the Honble Nicholas Greenberry Esq to preside therein, Untill my Returne or further Ordrs of all which I doe hereby Require & cofliand all their Majties Officers both civill & Mili tary within this their Dominion and all other persons what soever to take Notice & conforme themselves accordingly as they & every of them will answer the contrary at their Utmost perills; Given at the City of St Maries the third day of October Anno Dni 1693 in the ffifth yeare of the Reign of our Soveraign Lord & Lady King William & Queen Mary.
