            forth then the above Obligacon to be Voyd and of None effect,

            otherwise to be and remaine in full force and Virtue.

            Maryland ss. Know all men by these prsents that we Samll

            Watkins of the Province of Maryland Gent and Robert Smith

            and Robert Mason Esqr are holden and firmly bound unto his

            Excy ffrancis Nicholson Esqr theire Matys Capt genll and Chiefe

            Governr of this Province in the full Sume of one Thou3and

            pounds of Lawfull money of England to be payd to the said

            ffrancis Nicholson Esqr his heires Exrs Admrs or Assignes to

            the which paymt well and truly to be made we bind ourselves

            and either of us by himselfe our and either of our heires Exrs

            and Admrs Jointly and Sevrally for the whole and in the whole

            firmly by these presents Witness our hands & Seales this 20th

            day of August Anno Dni 1695

              The Condition of the above written Obligation is such

            that Whereas his Excy ffrancis Nicholson Esqr aforesd hath

            Commissionated and Appointed the said Samll Watkins to be

        p. 214   Navall Officer for the District of Putuxent River within the

            sd Province by his Commission bearing Equall Date with these

            presents Now if the sdd Samll Watkins shall well and truly

      

            pforme the said Office according to the Sevrall Acts of Par

            liamt in that Case made and provided and shall observe the

            directions Conteined in the Acts of Assembly of this Province

            relateing to the Duty of Navall Officers and from time to time

            Save and keep harmless the sd ffrancis Nicholson Esqr from all

            Damages loss and Charges that the sd ffrancis Nicholson Esqr

            shall Susteine at any time by reason of the said Watkins non

            pformance of his said Office so long as he shall Injoy the

            same as in the sd Sevrall Laws is Enacted and Ordeined Then

            the above Obligation to be Void and of none effect otherwise

            to be and remaine in full force and Virtue
