Shallop for &ca and (as is said) was designed to have conveyed Lib. H. D. false trading &Ca & Mr a way the sd Shallop out of this Province into Pen- Collier ap- silvania over Land; the which being Read it was pointed Rid ingsurveyrs thought Absolutely Necessary that a Riding Sur to prevent veyor or tWo be appointed And placed some where such abuses &ca Ordr for convenient to take an Accot of all such Abuses his Comis- comitted, as also inspect Yearly what quantityes of sion & Wt his Sallary to be tobacco is made in those parts; Whereupon Mr Whitehall p ann Thomas Collyer being proposed to be a proper and
fit person for the sd Imploy who appearing & accepting thereof, it was Ordered that Comicon be prepared for him accordingly, he finding Security for his due Execucon of the said place & & that for his trouble pains and care therein he be allowed the Suffle of Twenty pounds Sterl Yearly out of the fines and fforfeitures becoming due within this Province.
Mr Collier Ordered that the said Thomas Collyer be likewise constituted Navall Offi- constituted Navall Officer for the Port of William cer of the stadt. And that Mr Samll Watkins be in like man- port of Wil liamstadt & ner constituted Navall Officer of Petuxant District Mr Watkins and that Comissions be drawn for them accordingly of Pet uxant District &Ca Whitehall
August the 20th 1695. Mr Watkins The said Samll Watkins Recd his Comission as upon Re ceipt of his aboue and had Administred unto him the Oathes Comission Appointed by Act of parliamt to be taken instead of tooke the Oathes &ca the Oaths of Allegiance & Supremacy and Sub
scribed to the Test as also tooke the Oath of Trade Whitehall and Navigation.
Mr Colliers Mr Thomas Collyer being gone to fit & prepare preparacon for his im- himself for his imploys it was Ordered that he should ployint & be sworn before one of his Mats honoble Councill or ordr thereon &Ca one of the Justices of the Provll Court, before he Reced his Comission, which accordingly was per
formed as by the following certificate appears Vizt

Coll Green- Memorandum That this day (to Witt) the 29th day berry's Cer tificate of of August 1695. Came Mr Thomas Collier before Mr Colliers me & tooke the Oathes appointed by Act of Par taking the Oathes &ca liament instead of the Oathes of Allegiance & Supremacy as also the Oath of Trade & Navigation
as being recomended to me by Mr Henry Denton Clk of the Councill to Administer the afd Oathes and also Subscribed to the Test
