    If that Governmt will not be Satisfyed wth these Reasons

  you are to Acquaint them that they may (if they think fit) send

  one or two persons to the Assembly wch (God willing will sit

  the 2d day of October next to inform themselves of the Rep

  resentatives or others, inhabitants of this Province, about the

  Condition the same now lyes vnder; And that during their

  Stay they shall receive all the civill treatmt this Governmt can

  afford

    That you Make all the dispatch you can back & perform

  the Journey with as little Expence to the Countrey as you can,

  knowing the poverty of the same

  of Burgesses and Treasurrer for his Mats Province of Mary

  land

 

  Mr Taskers private In- You are to make inquiry as you goe through Pen

  structions silvania & the Jerseys what News you can heare

  about. the French & Canida Indians and what danger

 

  they apprehend in that Matter.

    When come to New Yorke you are to inquire the same, and

  make your Observations of the flourishing of the place both

  in building Shipping & Trade, especially since this Warr.

    You are to inquire and make your Observations upon the

  debarring all persons from trading to Albany but themselves

  and acquaint them that this Governmt does Expect that (if

  assistance is required by them from hence) they may have a

  ffree Trade to Albany to Supply the Indians, which will occa

  sion things to be Cheaper & the Indians not soe apt to Com

  plain for the dearness of the Comodity.

    You are to Observe that the Ordinary Revenue of that

  Province is aboue 5000 l Sterl: a year.

    That if the men are to be sent, you are to let them know, p. 194

  how that the people of the Countrey have neither Arms nor

  Amunition, nor his Maty any Magazine here, but that a Supply

  of such things are sent for by this last ffleet.

    You are to inquire as you goe a long when you are there

  whether they have had any Accot of the Additionall Act for

  the 3d p hhd lately passed & if they knew it was to be given

  them.

    You may inquire about any other matters & make use of

  these and them as you shall find necessary for his Mats Service

  and intrest of the Countrey.
