  Majr Thomp- Majr John Thompson had administred vnto him Lib. H. D.

         the Oathes appointed by Act of Parliamt to be taken

  had Comi- instead of the Oathes of Allegiance & Supremacy &

  con for being Subscribed to the Test, and likewise tooke the Oath Whitehall

 

  Officer of Trade & Navigation and Received a Coffiission

  at the Board for Navali Officer of Caecill County who at the

  same time Entered into Bond for his due Execution of the said

  Trust, Coll Casparus Herman being his Security.

 

    fforme of A Navall Officers Comission is as follows Vizt

  form of a Navall    Francis Nicholson Esqr Capt Genll & Governr in

  Officers Chief of their Mats Province in Maryland

  Comission    To

  of           County Gentl Whereas by one Act of

  Parliamt made in the fifteenth year of the Reign of King

  Charles the Second Entituled an Act for the Encouragemt of

  Trade amgst other things it is Enacted for the Better preven

  tion of fraudes That all Mars & Comanders of Ships & Ves

  sels Comming into any Land Island Plantation Colony Terri

  tory or place belonging to his Maty his heires and Successors

  shall make known to the Governr of such land Island Planta

  tion &ca or such other Person or Officer as shall be by him

  therevnto Authorized & Appointed in Pursuance Whereof &

  for the Better Execucon of the said Act & other Rules con

  tained in Severall Acts of Parliamt Relating to the duty of a p. 173

  Navall Officer as also the severall Laws of this Province, I do

  hereby Authorize and appoint you   to be Navall Officer

  of the Town and Port of in County with full

  Power & Authority to Exercise the severall Powers therein

  Contained & to observe all such directions as you shall from

  time to time Receive from me Relating to the duty of the said

  Office, And all Officers Civill & Military & their Mats Loveing

  Subjects are hereby desired and Commanded to be aiding and

  Assisting to you the said in the due Execucon of your

  Office, Given vnder my hand and Seale at the of

  this day of in the Yeare of the Reign of our Soy

  eraign Lord the King Anno Dorni: 169

 

  Militia 0ffi Ordered that the Colonel of each respective

   County give Notice to the Severall Militia Officers Whitehall

 

  the Soldiers vnder their Comand that they publish and Make

  to provide

  themselves known to their Respective Troopes and Company's

  with &ca Arms that they provide themselves with Armes & Amu

 

         nicon pursuant to the Act of Assembly of this Prov

  ince this last Sessions made and Enacted, And that they Slip
