112 Proceedings of the Council of Maryland, 1694 97.

Their Mats Receiver Genll this day put in the following Report vpon the Reference Yesterday made Relating to their Mats Revenue, Vizt
p. 34 Mr Platers To his Exncy ffrancis Nicholson Esqr Capt Genll & about the Governr in Chief and to the Honoble their Mats Coun Revenue cill of Maryland. Pursuant to your Exncies Ordr of Reference Yesterday relating to their Mats Revenue that a true state thereof should be by me Returned to your Exncy in Councill I do humbly Certify the same within my Collection as follows; That the Sume totali of the Duty of the One shilling and three pence p hogs- head on Tobacco Exported out of the District of Petuxant from the time of the Arrivall of the late Governor Copley to this day Amounts to the Sume of Three thousand Twenty three pounds three shillings & Eight pence, as p my Account thereof ready to produce may appeare; The said Duty being also Charged Debtor for paymts made out of the same the Sume of Two thousand ffive hundred Nineteen Pounds two shillings and flour pence, the Bailance thereof in my hands being ffive hundred & ifour pounds, one shilling & ffour pence; the which Ballance is ready to be Answered and paid And I do likewise humbly Certify further to your Exncy that the Duty of ifour pence, p Gallon on all Liquors imported & by me Collected within the aforesd District Amounts to the Sume of Three hundred thirty ffive pounds as p my Account also may Appeare And that the paymts out of the said Duty comes to the Sunie of Two hundred twenty one pounds; there still Remaining vnpaid vpon Account that Duty the Sume of One hundred ffourteen pounds: As to the ffines & fforfietures due to their Mats Under my Collection, the same have not been as yet Collected, though some Lists thereof have been Returned me (I not having as yet Recd any Orders for the disposall thereof) and doe also Certify to your Exncy that I have Collected in the District of Potomock for their Mats Use the Sume of One hundred Eight Pounds ffifteen shillings & Nine pence the which is still lodged with me. p. The Revenue of that District amounts to a greater Surne of Money the Certainty of which may appeare at such time as your Exncy shall think proper for the whole state of the Revenue of that District to be brought in together with an Account of their Mats Duties Collected in the District of Pocomoke; Majr King the Officer there not having as yet delivered any Account thereof, All which is humbly submitted to by Yor Exncies Obedient humble Servt July the last 1694.
