A Proclamation Proclamation Whereas Upon the death of his Exncy Lionell Copley Esqr their Mass late Capt Generall and Gov son Governor ernor in Chief in and over this their Province of & for Cont Maryland the Chief Comand & Governmt of the of Officers said Province is (by their Mats Royall CoThission, bearing Date the Tenth day of ffebry in the ffifth
year of their Reign vnder the great Seale of England) CoThitted to the charge & Conduct of me firancis Nicholson; the which said Comission being Produced and Read to and by their Mats Councill of this Province this day in Counciil siting; I have (by & with the advice of the said Councill, vpon my Accession to the Command & Governmt aforesaid) thought fit to pro clame and declare, and doe hereby publish and make knowne that all and singular their Mats Magistrates, Ministers and Officers Civil & Military within this Province are and doe stand and Remaine continued & confirmed in their Respective places and Offices aforesaid Untill further Orders hereby streightly Chargeing and Commanding them and Every of them respectively to Execute and performe the Duty of their respective places & Offices aforesaid as formerly they have or ought to have done; willing also and comanding all and singular their Mats loving Subjects of the said Province and all others whom it may concern to take due Notice hereof and yield all ready obedience therevnto as they will Answer the contrary at their perills; To which End I doe streightly Charge & Comand all and singular the Sheriffes of the respective Counties of this Province to make publick Proclamacon hereof in the most publick and convenient places within their Respec tive Counties Given at the City of St Maries the 27th day of July Anno Domini, 1694 in the ffifth year of the Reign of our Soveraign Lord & Lady King William & Queen Mary God Save King William & Queen Mary
His Exncie His Excellency was pleased to propound to the Demands . how the Board that they would signifye to him in what con- State of the dition and vnder what Circumstances the severall Governmt . . at present Affatres of this Province now lay vnder, Vizt as to lyes Ecclesiasticall Civill and Military Affaires ; And that Whitehall
they would give an Account of the publick Revenue belonging to the Province; as likewise in what Circumstances the Coun trey is in as to the Neighbouring Colonies adjoyning hereto.
