Assembly Proceedings, Sept. 20-Oct. 18, 1694. 51

Support of the Mastrs thereof, if a way can be found out to
settle such an Annuity; that the Chiefe Master be allowed 50l
p Anno Usher 25l and Writeing & Arithmetick Mastr 25l stll
p Annu.

Mr Tench appears at the Board.

for the Better introduceing of which his Exncy produced unto
unto them & Read their Majties Royall Charter for Constitute-
ing the Collige of William & Mary in Virginia whereby a
Supplicatory Act may be Drawne up to present to their
Sacred Majties for the Erecting the said ffree Schoole con-
formable as neare as may be to the said Charter. It is pro-
posed that a Law be made that the Sherriffe of Each County
shall give due notice to every free holder to appeare at the
Election of Burgesses, and that a Severe ffyne be laid upon
the Sherriffe neglecting his Duty & a ffyne upon the ffree
holder, if he does not appeare after being Sumoned, without
Lawfull Excuse & that when the ffree holders are met for
such End & purpose that they all be obliedged to stay there
untill Such Election is ouer.
Adjourne till Saturday Morning.

Saturday October the 6th 1694:

Councill Sate & were present all
Message by Mr Dent & Mr Clarke Signifyeing that there
were 2 Delegates Returned in the Roome & stead of the
disabled Members, did therefore pray that some of the
Councill might be sent from this Board to Administer the
Usuall Oathes appointed by Act of Parliament &ca & Test &
went accordingly the Honoble Sr Thomas Laurence Coll: Henry
Jowles Coll George Robotham & Coll Nicholas Greenberry
whoe Returne and say they haue Executed the matter as
Given them in Charge, and subscribed to the Test in Manner
ffollowing.

At the Citty of Snt Maries October the 6th 1694.

Wee the Subscribers doe declare that wee doe believe that
there is not any transubstantiation in the Sacrament of the
Lords Supper or in the Elements of Bread & Wine at or after
the Consecration thereof by Any person whatsoever.
