The house desire his Ex^cy will appoint him to read prayers
in some Parish where no minister is Collated and that he may
receive a Sallary therefore out of the 40^l of tob^o p poll, not
exceeding 10000^l tob^o p Annu^r Sent to his Excellency.
A Dill for Marking of Roades, read the third tyme and
passed.
Put to the question and Resolved by Majority of voices
that the additional duty of 3^d p hh^d for defraying the publique
charge of this province be for one year apply'd to the bnilding
of the church at Annapolis.
Put to the question and Resolved that 200^l of the 300^l pub-
lique Revenue in S^r Edmond Andros hands be given to the
use of free schools in this province, and fifty pounds of the
said mony to S^r Thomas Lawrence when he procures the Act
for coyns to pass.
Resolved the following Message be sent to his Ex^cy and
his Maj^tys hon^bLe Councill.

This house have Seriously considered of the Severall pro-
posalls made to us by his Ex^cy for granting three pence p hh^d
more then what is already allowed, and after all our endeav-
ours we find we cannot do it without offering violence to our
own Consciences and country, and desire that it may not be ill
resented in us; for we are and always shall be ready to do
any thing we can for the Service of our God, King and
Country, according to the best of our Judgm'^s and reason,
and to shew our readiness to contribute to the utmost of our
Ability's to the Service of God in building a church and Free
schole at Annapolis. We have proposed and Resolved that
out of the Revenue raised for defraying the charge of this
Province by the 3^d p hh^d one years Revenue thereof be appro-
priated towards building the Church at Annapolis. And that
out of the 300^l Sterl: to be returned to this Province by his
Ex^cy S^r Edm^d Andros after the 50^l deducted for S^r Thomas
Laurence his Sallary as President &c. 50^l more to the s^d S^r
Tho^s Laurence if the church, schole law and Coyns pass his
Maj^tys royall Assent. The other 200^l we are desirous should
be appropriated to the free school at Annapolis; but in case
the said act of Religion Schole and Coyns do not pass. We
are desirous that, that 50^l also be appropriated to the use of
the Free Schole to which we humbly pray his Ex^cy & Coun-
cill's concurence.
We also humbly Pray the hon^ble Councill will with us inter-
ceed to his Ex^cy to joyne with us in an Address to his Ma^ty for
reliefe of Severall of his Ma^tys loving Subjects in this province
