maker 90^l We find no other means to raise mony therefore
without the assistance of some charitable disposed persons, we
also find that the charge of building the said Church will not
amount to less then 1200^l Sterling.

S^r Edmond Andross and a warr' to George Plater Esq^r his
Ma^tys receiver Gen^ll to demand 300^l Sterl. of the Publique
Revenue taken by the s^d S^r Edmond when he assumed this
Governm^t Read, approved and signed by M^r Speaker on
behalfe of the house of Burgesses.
Colonel Beall enters the house.
M^r Charles Carroll of Councill for his Lordp: the L^d Prop^ty
being called into the house and heard concerning the Bill for
the Reliefe of the Legatees and Cred^rs of Marke Cordea
deceased and Severall Authorities produced, the said Bill is
assented to, nemine Contradicente.
House adjourned till 9 of a Clock to morrow morning

The House met. And it having been recomended that
they would lay an Additionall Duty of 6^d ;p hh^d on tob^o
exported.
Resolved that the following Message be sent to his Ex^cy
and his Ma^tys hon^ble Councill.

By the house of Burgesses Sept'the 29^th 1696.

This house do humbly sygnifye that they have caused the
originall Act for 3^d an hh^d given his Ex^cy during his Governm^t
as also the Act made in May last, laying a further additionall
duty of 3^d p hogshead on tob^o exported for defraying the
publique charge of this province for one year and no longer
to be inspected. We have also passed our last Reviving
Bill and find that by the same the af^d Bills are renewed and
put in force for the Terme of three years or untill the end of
the next Generall Assembly which we conceive hath hap-
pened through some mistake or neglect, and to remedy the
same humbly desire the said two Acts may be repealed and
drawn [up anew declaring] thereby the Act for 3^d p hh^d
given his Ex^cy and in force during his Government only accord-
