Bricklayer having all Stuffe upon the place 220l The Bricker-
maker 90l We find no other means to raise mony therefore
without the assistance of some charitable disposed persons, we
also find that the charge of building the said Church will not
amount to less then 1200l Sterling.

The Comittee of Accompts Produce their Journall which is
read, and well approved of by the house.
House Adjourned for an houre.

Post Merediem. House met. And a Lre. from his Excy to
Sr Edmond Andross and a warr' to George Plater Esqr his
Matys receiver Genll to demand 300l Sterl. of the Publique
Revenue taken by the sd Sr Edmond when he assumed this
Governmt Read, approved and signed by Mr Speaker on
behalfe of the house of Burgesses.
Colonel Beall enters the house.
Mr Charles Carroll of Councill for his Lordp: the Ld Propty
being called into the house and heard concerning the Bill for
the Reliefe of the Legatees and Credrs of Marke Cordea
deceased and Severall Authorities produced, the said Bill is
assented to, nemine Contradicente.
House adjourned till 9 of a Clock to morrow morning

The House met. And it having been recomended that
they would lay an Additionall Duty of 6d ;p hhd on tobo
exported.
Resolved that the following Message be sent to his Excy
and his Matys honble Councill.

By the house of Burgesses Sept'the 29th 1696.

This house do humbly sygnifye that they have caused the
originall Act for 3d an hhd given his Excy during his Governmt
as also the Act made in May last, laying a further additionall
duty of 3d p hogshead on tobo exported for defraying the
publique charge of this province for one year and no longer
to be inspected. We have also passed our last Reviving
Bill and find that by the same the afd Bills are renewed and
put in force for the Terme of three years or untill the end of
the next Generall Assembly which we conceive hath hap-
pened through some mistake or neglect, and to remedy the
same humbly desire the said two Acts may be repealed and
drawn [up anew declaring] thereby the Act for 3d p hhd
given his Excy and in force during his Government only accord-
