them and ordered that no other person or Persons whatso-
ever having less Equitable Right then the petitioners be
admitted to sue for the same, or have any Grant thereof from
his Lordship by means of any private or Clandestine suit, or
otherwise, endeavouring to Surprize his Lordship In which
Cases all such Grants to be of themselves Void

The humble petition of Peter Byard of Deleware River
Most humbly Sheweth.
That your Petitioner by Letters patent from his Royal
Highness's Government of New York hath Granted unto him
a parcell of Land being several Hamnocks of small Islands in
a marsh at the mouth of Deleware River aforesaid Bounded
on the East with Deleware River and Bay, on the South and
West with Duck Creek, and on the North with Thorough fare
Creek together with the Swamps and marshes therein and
thereunto adjoyning containing and laid out for 800 acres as
may be made appear to your Lordship which said Land
and other the parts of the said River up to the Degree of
forty Northern Latitude Your Petitioner is informed and
hath been made Sensible falls within the Bounds of this your
Lordships Province of Maryland according to your Lordships
Charter granted by his late Majesty to your Lordships late
Father Cecilius &c. of noble memory Your Petitioner in full
assurance and Confidence thereof is most ready and willing
to acknowledge and submit to your Lordships Right and
Dominion thereunto and most humbly prays your Lordships
acceptance thereof and to be received into your protection
and Government and that your Lordship considering his
equitable Right to the Premisses will graciously please to
grant him your Lordships Letters patent of Confirmation
thereof according to the Tenor of his said Grant from the said
Government of New York upon such conditions and Terms
as your Lordships conditions of plantation of this province of
Maryland have prescribed and set forth your petitioner in
order thereunto and that he may have and enjoy the same,
and what else he may Justly and Honestly acquire within
your Lordships province and Government as an Estate of Fee
Simple having humbly Supplicated your Lordship and two
Houses of Assembly now sitting for his Naturalization and to
be admitted and taken in all Respects as a natural Born Person
of this province or as one of British or Irish Descent And as
in duty Bound he shall pray &c.
