At the motion of Mr Roger Brooke late high Sher. of Cal-
vert County was ordered to be read the foll paper (viz:)
Whereas Mr Roger Brooke Sheriff of Calvert County hath
a greate quantity of tobo about 30000l due to him upon the
publick acco' and it being in small parcells cannot be reed:
this prsent yeare, wee whose names are undr written, doe
desire that if your Honors think convenient and fitting, The
said Mr Roger Brooke may be Sheriff of the said County the
ensueing yeare, ffor otherwise as he informes us he will be
ruined and undone by the same Office.

The Office of high Sheriff of Calvert County being already
conferred by this board on Mr Michael Taney, their Honors can-
not answer the above request of the Com" of the sd County
Came and made his appeareance Mr Wm Peirce high Sheriff
of Cecil County, accused and charged for not haveing pursued
the precepts and ordrs of this board to him directed, more
especially the warrant for apprehending Coll Talbott. He
