your seasonable advice to him will prvent any further or future

occasion of Complaints of this nature; Such Behaviour of his
(though it might well create in him a jealousy soe farr as to
moove him to supplicate your Exncys good advice to us in his
behalf yett) should not in the least have dulled the edge of
our affection to his Majtie or his Interest, in affording the best
of our aid and assistance to any of his Officers in the pro-
moteing thereof This we are confident we shall be able to
manifest to the world, and doubt not of your Exncys Candor
in believeing the same untill a better oportunity of Demon-
stration shall prsent to

Severall Depositions were this day taken, and ordered to be
Entred as foll:
John Llewellin of St Maries County in the Province of
Maryland sworne and examined saith, that on Sunday the
second day of Novemb: last past he was desired by the honble
Coll Henry Darnall and Majr Nicholas Sewall to goe with them
on board his Majties Ketch in Pottuxen River (as she was
tearmed) whereof one Capt Allen was Commandr and where
(at that time) Coll George Talbott was deteined prisoner for
the murder of Mr Christopher Rousby; That this Deponent
did waite upon their Honors aboard, where accordingly he saw
Coll Talbott in Jrons, and under a guard; That the Command"
haveing invited the said Coll Darnall and Major Sewall into
the Cabin, This Deponent and Mr Robert Carvile (who went
also in the boate with this Deponent) were also invited into
the Cabin, and there heard the said Capt Allen give a relation
of the murder, which being done, and some other discourse
pass'd (and which the Deponent may not remember) The said
Coll Darnall demanded the prisoner in the name of the Rt
honble the Lord Propry to be delivered up to the Governmt of
this Province, to be proceeded against according to Law; but
Capt Allen positively refused soe to doe, upon such demand,
but if they would please to demand him in the Kings name he
would deliver him The said Coll Darnall and Majr Sewall
(both to the best of this Depts remembrance) made answer
that it was the same thing in effect, for makeing use of the

Lord Proprys name was by vertue of his Majties Authority, by
his grant to his Lsp of this Province, which they then produced
and tendred the sd Capt Allen to peruse, but he slighted it, and
