edged himself to owe and be justly indebted unto the Rt honble
the Lord Propry in the full and just summe of Twenty pounds
sterling to be leavyed on his goods and Chattells Lands &
Tenemts Upon condition That if the said ffrancis Maiden shall
be and psonally appeare before his Lsps Justices of the Pro-
vinciall Court at the City of St Maries, on the first day of the
next Provinciall Court there to be holden, then and there to
answer unto the Complaint of William Mullett Clk for a
certain abuse to him offered to the dishonor of his Majtie the
Contempt of his grace the Ld Bishop of London, and the
diverting the good people of this Province from their due
obedience unto us.
And shall also then stand to and abide the finall end and
determination of the said Justices therein. Then this his
Recognizance to be void & of noe effect otherwise to stand
remaine and be in full force power and vertue in Law
Wherewith he said he was Content.

At a Councill held at Mattapony Sewall the Nineth Day of
May Anno Dmi. 1684

Complts: agt Capt William Jones of Bristoll.

His Ldsp: haveing communicated to this board that notwith-
standing he had Sufficiently warned Capt William Jones of
Bristoll that if he did at any time come and ride with his Shipp
in any part of this his Ldsps Province, he should be charged
with and compelled to pay his Lsps Duties, The said Jones had
nevertheless in contempt of his Lsp and this his Governmt
layne at Anchor with his said shipp a considerable time in
Pottomock River within the bounds of this Province, and
refuseth to acknowledge and pay his Lsps: Dutyes aforesaid
Whereupon

It was this day Ordered and Command given to Gilbert
Clerk of St Maries County gentt: Messenger thereunto
especially authorised and appointed forthwith to apprehend
