Present
His Lspp was pleased to acquaint the board that he had reed
a Lett' from Doctor William Mullett of the 4th instant com-
plaineing of severall "abuses and affronts offered him by one
ffrancis Maiden of Calvert County whereupon his Lspp thought
fitt to issue out his warrant for the said Maiden to appeare
here this day.
Wch sd Letter and warrant was ordered to be read as
foll (viz)
Lett, from Clergyman to Lo proy complaining of not permit,
him to officiate
May 4th 84:
My very good Lord.
I must acquaint your Honor with the affront that one.
ffrancis Maiden offered me in the Church this day, telling me
of my demand of the Church doore key, He told me I should
not have it, I urged unto him my ordination lycense, and
Institution; his answer unto me was, that neither the King or
Bishop of London should have to doe in the disposeing or set-
tling a minister in their church, and further told me that ab6ut
a ffortnight since they would bring in a minister of their owne
chooseing and discard me; My Lord the result I leave to
your consideration, what your Ldsp thinks most adviseable to be
done, The Subscription in both these places will not amount
to above 25 hhs: or thereabouts; I beseech your Honr to
acquaint the Lord of London with the same; I have written
what your Lsps favours have been unto me: urge my condition I
beseech you unto his Majtie of England, and the Lord of London,
your Honor knowes my present condition as well as my self;
Beal hath not taken any wild horses, Youngs wife assured
me that her husband should take me up a serviceable horse,
My Lord I beseech your Lspp order Mr Young to take me up
one & try his skill; I doe both now & ever must subscribe
