which I am strangely surprised and much admire, soe ground-
less a Report as that of Indians Troops gon to Maryland
should gett soe much Creditt to give you the trouble of an
Express which possobly may alarm those parts with greater
feares and Iealousies then Ever, which haveing fully Enquired
& examined after cann find noe cause for, nor could I have
thought you would have made propositions to the Commis-
sarys his Majtys Subjects in that manner, yor business accord-
ing to yor Commission you produced being to treate with and
Confirme a. peace withe the Senecas and other Indians, accord-
ing to the Articles made by Coll Coursey in which wee are
requested if need be to give you all assistance, and I thought
before you went from hence you had a full assureance thereof
and of our reall and neighbourly kindness Inclinacons to
serve you and all his Majestys Subjects in such methods as
our long Experience hath given us to knowe is most vsefull
necessary and expedient, Pursuant to which wee sent Orders
to the Commissarys and those in place to assist and advise
you accordingly: The matter being cheifly to confirme or
renue a peace formerly made may be more properly done and
accomplised without soe much threats of warr or giveing
them oppertunity of greater feares or Jealosies then they
have. The method that hath hitherto Kept us in peace and
by our meanes the rest of his Majestys Subjects both East
and west is certainly best still to be followed and not to be
led by new Councells out of the usuall and Comon road in
which wee are best understood, as wee are acquainted with
